Manchester Literature Festival, October 2013
Manchester Literature Festival started today, running 7th - 20th October.

Manchester Literature Festival (formerly Manchester Poetry Festival) is running for the majority of October, with events every day 7th - 20th of October.

From book readings to creative writing activities, there are plenty of events scheduled throughout the festival, marrying word with place and engaging the public with books, authors, and with Manchester as a culturally rich city.

According to the festival's website, its main objectives are:
  • "to showcase the very best in contemporary writing from across the world.
  • to commission innovative literature from established and emerging writers.
  • to provide opportunities for writers to experiment with new media in the production and presentation of their work.
  • to promote Manchester as a hub for international cultural change.
  • to provide inspirational opportunities for children and young people to engage in creative writing and reading activities."
