Scottish Arts Club Short Story Competition 2017
Deadline: Fri 31 Mar 2017
Author Alexander McCall Smith is the chairman of judges in the 2017 Scottish Arts Club Short Story Competition

The competition is open to all published and unpublished writers worldwide over 16 years. Stories should be no more than 1,500 words and can be on any topic. The entry fee is £10. All funds raised through the competition will be channelled through the Scottish Arts Club Charitable Trust to benefit the arts in Scotland.

First prize £800 plus two commendations of £100 each. From 2017 we will also present the £500 Isobel Lodge Award for New Scottish Writing. Unpublished authors born, living or studying in Scotland who enter the Scottish Arts Club Short Story Competition may also be considered for this award.

Finalists’ stories will be published on the club website in September 2017. All finalists will then be invited to attend the Short Story Awards dinner to be held at the club on Saturday 14 October 2017, when awards will be announced and presented.
