City Lit Novel Writing: An Online Course
Mon 20 Apr 2015 to Fri 10 Jul 2015
Designed to introduce you to the techniques of good writing and to help you complete a novel over ten week
This course is designed to help you begin and/or develop a novel you want to write, or to teach you the skills you need to complete the novel you may already be writing - over an eleven-week period. Along the way, we will discuss the basic techniques of fiction writing - point of view, narrative prose (and what it looks like), and the structure inherent in any good piece of short fiction (and what it looks like). Shaping scenes, characters and sentences will also be discussed.

We will focus on the special needs and concerns of the aspiring novelist – how to develop material – and experience – from one’s own life that is substantial enough to carry you through the long haul. And some of the ways in which the novel is shaped, plotted, and grown.
