Reading for pleasure is identified as a key component in raising reading achievement. This inspirational conference will highlight the significance of children reading for pleasure and becoming readers for life. It will explore ways to motivate, engage and foster reading for pleasure in primary and secondary classrooms. The day will provide everyone who attends with:
• Strategies to inspire pupils to read with pleasure and techniques to maintain the reading habit and will offer evidence from practitioners about what works and why
• Different approaches to encourage reading for pleasure
• Practical, thought provoking sessions which will scaffold creative teaching to foster reading for pleasure
This course is open to all but may be especially relevant to head teachers, teachers, student teachers, librarians, lecturers in ITE and anyone interested in children's literature.
