Funding, Grants, and Developing Your Writing Career
Thu 26 May 2016 to Thu 26 May 2016
Join Spread the Word and guests for this free event. This is the first of a series of talks and networking sessions that will boost your development as a writer as well as giving you some vital career advice
Through informal presentations, Q&A session and case-studies, we'll be exploring project ideas and grant schemes, as well as looking at the current funding landscape for writers. We'll also be looking at what other opportunities - mentor schemes, funded retreats, residency ideas, travel and research grants - might help you reach the next step in your career as a writer. Plus there'll be plenty of space and time to network with our panellists and other writers (and free tea and biscuits…)
Spread the Word will be joined by:
- Arts Council England
- Winston Churchill Memorial Trust
- Royal Society of Literature
- Society of Authors
We've also invited a panel of writers with a strong track record of winning funding to share their experiences of seeking support for their work.
- Simon Mole - Spoken Word, solo touring shows, other residency projects.
- Jamie Rhodes - Writing residencies; publishing fiction with the British Library and National Trust.
- Jacqueline Crooks - Freelance fiction writer and professional fund-raiser; successfully won funding from Arts Council England to write a collection of fiction.
We are grateful to Arts Fundraising & Philanthropy for their generous support in helping make this event happen.
