How to create and maintain your writer platform online, in a way that works for you
Do you have a website or a blog or perhaps a Twitter profile, but need help with taking it to the next level? Are you struggling to find the time or enthusiasm for it all?
A writer with a strong social web presence has a big advantage over one who does not engage with social tools. But it’s about more than just promoting yourself on social media, and it certainly doesn’t have to feel like a chore.
Come and learn:
- the elements of an effective social web presence and what that means for you
- the basics of standout writer’s blog – what to blog about and why. The focus will be on content and building a following rather than the technicalities of setting up a blog
- how to use Twitter to connect with your readers, publishers and influencers
- how to do all this and it still feel like fun
Throughout the day we’ll be talking about common issues such as how to stay focused on your goals, how to find the time for social media, and matters of etiquette. We’ll look at live examples and be doing ‘hands-on’ search, blogging and profile tweaking.
You will come away with a stronger social web presence, an improved focus, fresh perspectives and many new techniques to put into practice.
This is not a technology session. To maximise the amount of time available, attendees should already have a Twitter account and a blog, and be familiar with the basics of how to use them, even if they are not very active. (It’s advisable to bring your own laptop, or tablet if you prefer.)
