Ever wondered what makes a strong author-publisher partnership? Join author-illustrator Maia Walczak and Jazzmine Breary from Jacaranda Books as they explain how the two, having first met at university, years later formed a unique cross-cultural partnership which has resulted in the publication of Walczak’s debut novel, The Colour Black.

Jazzmine’s grandparents came to the UK from the Caribbean and Maia was born to Polish parents in London, where until she learnt English in school, her only language was Polish. The two will discuss the collaboration which resulted in the genre-bending illustrated novel The Colour Black. They’ll also talk about careers in publishing and explain why illustrated books aren’t just for children.

The Colour Black is a philosophical story of conspiracy, love and tragedy. Two lives, one secret and a journey that will change everything. A stirring take on the American road novel from British debut novelist Maia Walczak.
