Many people wish to write about the events that have happened to them and others, and this course will help you to do that
Everyone has a story to tell. This is not the same as the old cliché that 'everyone has a novel in them'. No, this is moving away from fiction and thinking about your life and the lives of those around you.
Many people wish to write about the events that have happened to them and others, and this course will help you to do that. Through a series of guided exercises you will explore different forms of life-writing, learning how to make the mundane exciting and removing the melodrama from the dramatic.
There will also be explorations of the idea of truth versus accuracy in life-writing to help you bring your best fiction-writing skills to bear on reality.
At the end you will have produced a series of pieces based on real events, and have had the chance to receive detailed and useful feedback on them all, as well as the chance to read the work of your fellow students.
The course starts on Monday 17th September and runs for 6 weeks. Early Bird Enrolment (available until 3rd September) only £72 (£90 thereafter).
