Nourish! A day of walks, talks, food and creative writing at Hospitalfield

11am: Arrival and Welcome, followed by a tour of the walled garden led by Head Gardener, Diana Robertson. Initially a medicinal then a Victorian kitchen garden, the walled garden at the house represents 800 years of horticulture on the site. Visit the Victorian Fern House and the HOPE Organic Gardens; take a guided meander around routes within the Hospitalfield grounds; then enjoy some tea and cake our glasshouse.
12pm: A tour of Hospitalfield House. A historic house of medieval origin which, in the 19th-century, became one of the first schools of art in Scotland, Hospitalfield houses astonishing historic collections of painting, textiles, furniture and objects reflecting its unique position within the Arts & Crafts movement in Scotland. Explore the house and its heritage with an experienced guide.
1pm: A fresh and nourishing lunch prepared by Chef Simon Brown using produce from the gardens.
2-4 pm: Nourish: A Writing Workshop led by Beth McDonough, Writing Practice and Study programme at the University of Dundee. Inspired by the morning tours, lunch, and prompted by a collection of connected objects and by evocative seasonal writing, find a morsel of your own ...and write. Make a concertinaed book of words; leave having shared at a very special table.
