Word Factory Masterclass: Louise Doughty: Is it a Story? Is it a novel?
Wed 19 Jul 2017 to Wed 19 Jul 2017
The Man Booker Prize judge, author of Apple Tree Yard and award-winning short story writer, novelist and screenwriter Louise Doughty, will help you understand where your narrative is leading

It's not always clear whether an idea is a short story or a full-length book. Authors often think they are writing in one form and discover their story is mutating.

Award-winning novelist, screenwriter, Man Booker Prize judge and short-story writer Louise Doughty will draw on her own experience to help writers trust their instinctive responses and learn from their craft.

Drawing on her book Black Water which began as a short story and became a 100,000 word novel, Louise will share what she’s learned in her writing career.

There will be time to work on your own ideas and workshop briefly in the class.Aimed at writers wondering whether to develop a story into a novel.
