Back by popular demand! The WCN Children’s Literature Day School explores different aspects and forms of writing for children and young people.
The day covers writing, illustration, preparing work for publication and children’s literature in the publishing industry.
An unusual and exciting feature of this day school is the illustrator-writer exchange session where participants will get the chance to share their work and ideas, perhaps even finding that magical partnership!
Tutors will deliver presentations based on their work and then lead discussions based on the issues raised.
Session 1: Writing Young Adult Prose with Tanya Landman
Session 2: Children’s Illustration with Eva Sánchez Gómez
Session 3: An Agent’s Perspective with Davinia Andrew-Lynch
Session 4: Writer-Illustrator exchange - Illustrators will be encouraged to bring along portfolios, and writers will be encouraged to send postcards (brief synopses) of story ideas ahead of the workshop – these will be the basis for the idea exchange.
