Writers' Centre Norwich: Writing Creative Non-Fiction with Paul Willetts
Sat 14 Oct 2017 to Sat 14 Oct 2017
Got a great idea for a work of non-fiction? Successful non-fiction writer Paul Willetts leads this one day workshop for aspiring and emerging non-fiction writers.

Got a great idea for a work of non-fiction, but unsure how best to make a start? Successful non-fiction writer and journalist Paul Willetts will offer his own experiences of producing narrative-driven historical non-fiction in this day workshop for aspiring and emerging non-fiction writers.

Paul will provide an insight into the creative possibilities of this type of factual writing, and through examples and discussions, will teach you ways to tackle the inevitable practical problems. You will look at how to expand an idea into a book proposal, and gain advice on researching a subject and then transforming the consequent notes into readable and dramatic prose. By the end of the day, you’ll be equipped with the tools to write an exciting and engaging story, steeped in the sights and sounds of a long-gone world. Perfect for anyone interested in non-fiction, biography and history.

Limited availability – this workshop will have a maximum of 15 participants to ensure an intimate learning environment.

Paul Willetts is the author of four much-praised works of non-fiction, which share a London backdrop. These comprise two biographies - Fitzrovia and Members Only - and two works of narrative non-fiction - North Soho 999, and Rendezvous at the Russian Tea Rooms. Alongside his non-fiction, Paul has written journalism for The Independent, The Daily Telegraph, The Independent on Sunday and other publications. He is currently working on a new narrative non-fiction book, commissioned by US Penguin Random House.
