Writing Haiku Workshop
Sat 7 May 2016 to Tue 7 Jun 2016
As part of the International Dance Festival Birmingham 2016, this practical workshop, led by Jacqui Rowe, introduces Japanese poetic forms

Learn how to write haiku and other syllabic forms in response to the exhibition of Shun Ito’s Cosmic Birds. Following a tour of the art works, we’ll work to themes including movement and gravity, time, machinery, nature and the seasons, and dance.

The workshop will also include an introduction to the Japanese poet Kenji Miyazawa whose writings have inspired the performance piece ‘In a Landscape’, also presented in conjunction with the artist residency, and conclude with an opportunity to take part in our Haiku Exchange. Please bring writing materials.
