Writing Theatre for a Young Audience with Mike Akers

This is a workshop with practical advice and information for writers keen to extend their expertise in writing for children's theatre, and to consider the additional challenges of writing for children in our age of screen-based culture
Mike Akers is a well-known dramaturg and writer who has worked on many productions including high profile shows with Sally Cookson at Bristol Old Vic, such as 'Treasure Island', 'Peter Pan' and ‘Jane Eyre'. His family productions include Christmas shows,'The Magic Elves' (Old Vic Studio), 'The Lost Present', 'Super Sam & Mega Max Save Christmas' (Tobacco Factory Brewery). Mike is also an actor, has immense experience of working in schools with Travelling light Theatre company and is a teacher and university lecturer.

This is a workshop with practical advice and information for writers keen to extend their expertise in writing for children's theatre, and to consider the additional challenges of writing for children in our age of screen-based culture.
