Young Writers’ Summer School
Mon 11 Aug 2014 to Fri 15 Aug 2014
Writing West Midlands, in partnership with The Writing Centre (part of the Warwick Writing Programme at the University of Warwick,) presents a non-residential summer school for those aged 12 – 19

The Summer School is a fantastic opportunity for young people to develop their skills and interests in creative writing. There will be two age groups, one for those aged 12 – 15 and one for those aged 16 – 19, each meeting daily from Monday 3 till Friday 7 August.

Suitable for anyone who loves writing in any form, the week is also particularly suitable for young writers considering studying Creative Writing at university or taking the new A-level in Creative Writing. Across the week, young writers will explore many forms of writing, from poetry and short stories to writing for the stage and screen, led by professional writers Nick Walker and Liz Berry, with guest writers visiting to share their experience of the literature industry and their career paths. At the end of the week, parents, family and friends will be invited to a showcase of work.

Young writers involved will also have the chance to complete a Bronze Arts Award, a nationally-recognised qualification that builds creative and leadership skills in the arts.
