Teaching opportunities are available in fiction, poetry, and scriptwriting modules within the BA Creative Writing Programme, located in the Department of English and History
The department is home to a well-established Creative Writing section, in which students gain experience in all the major literary genres. The BA programme has recently been expanded to include a Single Honours route, and will continue to enable students to study Creative Writing in combination with a range of other subjects such as Drama, English, Film Studies, History and Media. The Department also runs the highly successful MA in Creative Writing, and has a growing number of doctoral students pursuing creative projects. The Department in committed to the practical career development of its Creative Writing students, and provides professional guidance as well as the development of literary skill.
You will teach undergraduate students in a variety of modes, including writing workshops, tutorials and online interaction, and assess student work. You will ensure individual learning needs are met and support for study skills and learning difficulties is provided. You will also need to be flexible, organised and have a commitment to excellence.
Applications are invited from candidates with an established profile of publication and/or performance in: fiction; and/or drama (in any medium); and/or poetry, especially experimental poetry. Previous successful experience of University teaching is preferred; but the post will also support writers who may be relatively new to HE teaching, in providing subject-specific mentoring and staff development within the Department. Candidates should be committed to innovation in Learning, Teaching and Assessment.
