After the success of our Slam last season, we bring you the Axis Spring Slam 2017. If you know what a slam is, then you know what’s in store
And the stakes are higher than ever – our competing poets will win cash prizes and guest slots at some of the best spoken word around the UK including Evidently Salford, Sonnet Youth Glasgow and Milk Poetry in Bristol. Poets can submit their video applications via this link until the 11th January.
Plus we have the illustrious company of our guests and judges.
Rose Condo is the 2014 Word War Slam Champion, 2015 Slamalgamante Champion and 2015 Say Owt Slam in Edinburgh Champion. Creator of two solo show's The Geography of Me and How To Starve An Artist, Rose is a Canadian prarie poet and education programmer who stormed the Axis Slam 2016.
Malaika Kegode is the host and creator of Bristol's Milk Poetry platform, one of the Most Influential Bristolians Under 24 as named by Rife Magazine, BBC Slam Finalist and all round poetic goddess.
Hosted by multi award-winning poet Ciarán Hodgers, this is your chance to sit back and enjoy the visceral and the vibrant, and witness the victorious!
Gathering poets from across the UK the Axis Spring Slam will become a focal point for vibrant, lively voices on the 14th February, which just so happens to be Valentine’s Day.
Come and be seduced into a lyrical one night stand you won’t regret.
