Deadline: Thu 31 Jul 2014
The Baltic Writing Residency (Poets & Writers listing) is currently accepting applications for the week-long residency in Brora, Scotland, a village located on the coast, north of Inverness
The deadline is July 31, 2014. Applications of any nationality and written in English can be sent via Submittable. The application fee is $20.00 (or about £12.75)

Both emerging and established writers are encouraged to apply. Recent finalists and winners range from those who have yet to conceive of their first manuscripts, to writers who have held Guggenheim Fellowships, the UK's Forward Poetry Prize, and Whiting Writers' Awards, as well as finalists for the National Book Award and numbered in the New Yorker’s “20 Under 40”. Previous winners include Salvatore Scibona, Catherine Wagner, Joshua Cohen, Viccy Adams, Emma Jones, Amity Gaige, and Kyle McCord.

The Scotland Writing Residencyis located in Brora, a coastal village in the east of Sutherland in the Highland area of Scotland. The residency does not come with a cash prize. The writer resides in a furnished and recently renovated, traditional croft cottage, containing three-bedrooms. The cottage is few hundred years old (pre-Highland Clearances), enjoys uninterrupted views southwards over the Moray Firth and provides open access to the beaches, hills, burns, lochs and the beautiful unspoiled sandy beaches. It is a perfect base for hill and coastal walks, scenic drives and touring the Northern Highlands. Towels and linen included; off-street parking available; open fire. Washing machine, dryer, stove/cooker, microwave, and fridge. It is suggested that the writer bring a car with them on the residency, as there are no stores, restaurants or public transportation within convenient walking distance of the cottage.

Spouses and partners are welcome to accompany the winning writer on the residency. Details about the residency, about Brora, and about the application process can be found on the website
