Newcastle Arts Development team are interested in developing an art project linked to the Healthy Schools Plus programme currently running within the city

Newcastle Arts Development team, Culture and Creativity Advisor and the Healthy Schools team are interested in developing an art project linked to the Healthy Schools Plus programme currently running within the city.

We would like to pilot a creative project with three primary schools in the Inner West area of the city that would engage children in a creative programme of development linked to improving their health and well being in relation to the healthy weight agenda.

Through the Healthy School Plus programme each school has identified areas for health improvement that are specific to their school community linked to the key public health priority of healthy weight. This includes activity related to:

  • Improving diet and nutrition
  • Improving emotional health and wellbeing
  • Increasing physical activity levels

We are keen to hear from any interested artists with a good track record of developing arts and health projects targeting primary school children and their families in disadvantaged communities, with local knowledge of the west end of Newcastle.
