Editor Development Programme
Deadline: Fri 22 Aug 2014
The Poetry School and The Rialto are looking to select two new participants for the second year of their development programme focussing on poetry editing skills, running from 2014 – 2015

This is a rare opportunity for poets and would-be editors to get hands-on experience of the philosophy and process of poetry editing.

Each participant will be mentored by Rialto editor Michael Mackmin. They will shadow the production of the magazine, be involved in selecting the contents for at least two issues and be invited to guest edit a section of the Spring 2015 issue. They will be valued members of the Rialto team, providing input into selection, design, production, marketing, administration and the magazine’s online platforms. They will be expected to reflect formally on the process and to share findings with the Poetry School’s community of emerging poets, both in person and online.

The opportunity is unpaid. This is an advanced-level training programme offering structured experience of the poetry editor’s role. The hours are flexible, taking into account the needs of the magazine and the needs of the participants, and the programme may vary both in timetable and content.

Travel expenses will be paid up to an agreed maximum.

Application is by CV, and up to 500 words explaining your interest in this opportunity. For more information and to apply please visit.
