Evaluation of Hull 2017 UK City of Culture
Deadline: Wed 7 Sep 2016
Hull UK City of Culture 2017 Limited (the Culture Company) has been set up to produce the Hull 2017 UK City of Culture Programme on behalf of Hull City Council

Hull UK City of Culture 2017 Limited (the Culture Company) has been set up to produce the Hull 2017 UK City of Culture Programme on behalf of Hull City Council, resulting in 365 days of transformative culture through a range of diverse and high profile events and projects.

The University of Hull, is working as the Culture Company's academic research partner. In November 2015 they announced the creation of an Institute for Research on Culture and the Creative Industries. The institute will explore the social and economic impact of culture and Hull's UK City of Culture year, conducting research of national and international significance. Their research will also help inform future policy across the globe, provide advice to key stakeholders and be shared with future Cities and Capitals of Culture in the UK and beyond.

As part of the University's role as academic research partner to the Culture Company, they are commissioning a programme of evaluation research, in close cooperation with the Culture Company, to assess the outcomes of Hull 2017. The partners are interested in understanding outcomes in five main areas: Arts & Culture, Place making; Economy; Society and Wellbeing; and Partnerships, Development & Legacy.

It is expected the scope of work will include:

  • An Outcome Evaluation
  • A Process Evaluation.

The University of Hull are seeking tenders from external evaluators and research agencies with experience working in the arts, culture and heritage sector, to undertake this work. Tenderers may bid individually, or in partnership with other organisations. Where tenderers are submitting a tender in partnership, we ask that one organisation take the role of Lead Organisation.
