Events Officer
Deadline: Wed 13 May 2015
The Wordsworth Trust is based at an internationally significant site, centred around Dove Cottage, the home of the poet William Wordsworth, 1799-1808

The Wordsworth Trust cares for a Designated collection, around which is based a programme of events and activities, including exhibitions, educational activities and community outreach and engagement with contemporary creativity.  It actively seeks to link the poetry of the past and present, inspiring new generations to creatively respond to the places, words and ideas linked to Romanticism. The curatorial team encompasses stewardship, learning and visitor services; we learn from each other and share our knowledge.

The Wordsworth Trust is part of the Cumbria Museums Consortium, along with Tullie House Museum and Art Gallery Trust and Lakeland Arts.  The Consortium is funded by Arts Council England as a Major Partner Museum (MPM).  Over the next three years (April 2015 – March 2018) the Consortium will be funded to deliver exciting and innovative programmes that will celebrate excellence, raise standards and ensure that more people experience and are inspired by the richness of Cumbria’s museums.

The Wordsworth Trust is looking to recruit an enterprising and creative person to work with the Curator and  Curatorial and Learning Team to build on a successful three years of events programming and short courses, within the framework of the Wordsworth Trust’s Audience Development Plan.

The post-holder will take responsibility for the evaluation, administration and delivery of the events programme throughout the year. With the Curator, the post-holder will also develop the Wordsworth Trust’s short course programme, aimed at universities around the world. You will be a highly motivated, innovative and organised individual with experience of planning, administrating and delivering engaging events programmes.

This is a fixed term post until March 2018, and is funded by Arts Council England.
