For nearly 200 years, the Royal Society of Literature has existed to celebrate and nurture all that is best in British literature, past and present
Today, alongside a world-class events programme, we support authors both established and emerging through prizes, awards and grants. We also run masterclasses, and manage a Schools Outreach programme to inspire the next generation of readers and writers.
In all these areas we work closely with our Fellows, distinguished contemporary writers representing every genre of literature, from history and biography to fiction, drama and poetry.
Working from our busy office in Somerset House, the Executive Director is responsible for the smooth running of all these activities, and for the management of the staff of five.
