YOUYOU Mentoring and private members’ club LIBRARY have launched ‘I’m A Storyteller’ – an innovative new mentoring initiative to find new writing talent
Five hand-picked aspiring writers will be offered a 3 month 'free' mentorship during (March-May) to compose original short story featuring 800 words. Throughout the mentorship beneficiaries will take part in bespoke group masterclasses and 1-2-1 sessions with leading writers, literary experts e.g agents, publishers, radio producers and creative professionals. The culmination of the project will see the five short stories printed and curated in a special showcase at LIBRARY.
Award-winning actor/writer/director Adrian Lester well-known for his leading roles in BBC1 Hustle and Othello at The National Theatre, is among the group of celebrities, authors and songwriters giving their support.
Beneficiaries chosen for #ImAStoryTeller will have the opportunity to:
1. Have a unique springboard to develop and unlock their potential as a writer
2. Learn and obtain on-hands practical skills in the major components in telling a story
3. Create original imaginative fiction or non-fiction storytelling, characters, dialogue and structure of stories.
4. Broaden their creativity in experiencing new mediums to present short stories to connect with readers and audiences.
Supporting the writing scheme include award-winning children's author Laura Dockrill, Alice Oseman author of Solitaire, Fox Mason, Literary agent Becky Thomas (agent to Kate Tempest), former Busted frontman Charlie Simpson and Laura Pradelska actress in Game of Thrones.
