Learning to Fly is an arts-led response to the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) supported Surrey in the Great War: A County Remembers project
We are seeking a poet / writer to lead a community-based writing and poetry programme of workshops based upon responses to the gathered archive of materials from 100 years ago, which have been collected from across Surrey by teams of historians and volunteers as part of the Surrey in the Great Warproject.
Our selected lead poet / writer will be supported by a project manager who will liaise with project partners and will set up a series of workshops across the county. The lead poet will be the spokesperson for the Learning to Fly programme and will advocate and promote the programme to Surrey’s diverse communities. They will also curate, select and edit the newly-created works to produce a collection of writings published online that reflect on life in Surrey a hundred years ago and stand as a contemporary reflection on the impact and legacy of the Great War on Surrey communities.
Learning to Fly is funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) and Arts Partnership Surrey (APS).
