Lecturer in Professional Writing & Publishing

The successful candidate will undertake teaching in the Professional Writing and Publishing undergraduate and coursework masters programs and provide pedagogical leadership and support. You will contribute to the development and teaching of units (including lectures, tutorials, online classes), undertake supervision of honours and postgraduate research students, conduct research into the scholarship of learning and teaching, and take up administrative duties. Teaching excellence and effectiveness in identifying student needs, conducting activities that stimulate and foster student learning ability, and innovation in curriculum design and development of learning materials is imperative to your success in this position.

You need a doctoral qualification in Professional Writing & Publishing (PWP) or a relevant/related discipline. Teaching experience, both face-to-face and online, and expertise in three or more of the following areas is required: editing, digital publishing, persuasive writing, writing for international audiences, writing for government and business, writing for the IT industry and other growth areas, social media communication, and nonfiction writing such as biography, creative nonfiction or writing organisational histories.

You must have extensive teaching experience in relevant areas and a strong record of high quality teaching, experience in content development, knowledge of effective pedagogical practice and exemplary communication skills. Experience in unit coordination and the capacity to supervise professional writing and nonfiction creative writing students at honours and postgraduate level will be strongly regarded.
