Miracle Magazine's Young People Project
Deadline: Mon 1 Jul 2013
What’s more fun than combining your love of both poetry and social networking?

The Miracle Magazine's aim has always been promoting the arts among young people, and the Young People Project is launched with the aim of pursuing this mission.

The project is not only going to bring young writers together, but it will also connect musicians, performers, and artists from around the world. Many creative activities will be launched through the project to inspire the world's youth, and make them a part of this wide-spread project.

The Young People Project listens to the voices of young people, and works on projects that help cultivate young artistry.

What’s more fun than combining your love of both poetry and social networking? Platforms like Tumblr, Twitter and Facebook are often where teenagers are most comfortable to express themselves in writing.

Here are the contest’s guidelines:

(1) Each poem must be the original work of the author, and it must not have been previously published (including online on any website, blog or on [public] social media [for example in publicly viewable Twitter and Facebook posts]).
(2) Poems must be in English.
(3) Entrants must be aged under 21 on the closing date of the 15th June 2013.
(4) All entries must be received by midnight GMT on the 15th June 2013; late entries will not be accepted (uh oh).
(5) Entries must be submitted to the Young People Project tumblr (theyoungpeopleproject.tumblr.com). The post will not appear immediately as you will have to wait for your submission to be approved.

To make the contest a bit different from your usual poetry contest, we have decided that the entrant poems should start with or be a response to one of the following lines (choose the line of your choice out of the three!):

(i) “Somebody has to go polish the stars…” (Shel Silverstein)
(ii) “When you are old and grey and full of sleep…” (Yeats)
(iii) “Although she dropped by without warning, the conversation was easy.” (Alan Buckley)

You can take those lines anywhere you want, and the final poems can be about any subject! So explore and surprise us!

And please don’t forget to share this post with your friends who are interested in poetry!

Now, to your, not pens, but keyboards! :)
