The Mentoring Programme is an exciting opportunity for six aspiring or emerging playwrights living in Scotland with a genuine commitment to writing for the theatre
Am I eligible for the Mentoring Programme?
- You are an aspiring or emerging playwright living in Scotland, or from Scotland and living elsewhere
- You have a particular play you hope to develop through mentoring
- You are not a student in full-time formal education (i.e. 16 hours or more per week) at the start of the Mentoring Programme. Applications may be considered from individuals who are working at a professional level within the arts and film sector or undertaking a part-time course of study, however, this will depend on how it relates to your course
- You will be available from mid-January for six months to work on your script regularly during monthly meetings (totalling about eight days)
Is the Mentoring Programme right for me?
Mentoring is geared towards aspiring and emerging playwrights who might have one or more of the following:
- very little, if any, playwriting experience
- experience in other areas of creative writing
- some experience of developing their work in a workshop environment, through rehearsed readings or working with others to improve their skills
- a commitment to developing their craft as playwrights
