This studentship arises from a major Arts and Humanities Research Council funded three-year project, entitled ‘Memories of Fiction: An Oral History of Readers’ Life Stories’ (led by Dr Shelley Trower, University of Roehampton, and Dr Graham Smith, Royal Holloway, University of London). Starting 1 October 2014 the studentship will be a full bursary, including Home/EU fees plus a Research Council level stipend for three years' full-time doctoral study.
Applications are invited which outline a research proposal relating to two or more of the following topics in relation to the overall project theme: memory, reading, oral history, life stories, emotion, book studies, creative writing. We will be particularly interested in proposal addressing memories of reading in adulthood but are also open to other ideas.
We are looking for candidates capable of submitting a Ph.D. thesis within three years, having completed an MA degree in a relevant subject.
