Project 2036 bursary for BAMER Playwright, Producer and Director, Bush Theatre
Deadline: Thu 21 Sep 2017
Project 2036 is a three year programme that will offer a Black, Asian, Minority Ethnic and Refugee (BAMER) playwright, director and producer a £7,500 bursary each year, generously funded by the Leverhulme Trust.

The programme is divided into three phases lasting three months each:

Phase 1 involves shadowing their designated field mentor, attending programming and producing meetings at the Bush and being introduced to key staff who will provide them with an insight into marketing, fundraising and administration.

Phase 2 will allow each bursary recipient to work practically. Under the guidance of their field mentor, the producer will work as Assistant Producer on a Bush production on which the director will be Assistant Director. During this phase the playwright will be given time to write their own piece of work with extensive dramaturgical support.

Phase 3 will see the trio of bursary recipients work together to take over the new Studio space. After three months of shadowing and learning, and three months of practice, the Bush Theatre will literally hand over the keys to the Studio for these three artists to programme, develop, produce and showcase ambitious scratch performances, including their own work and visits from artists they invite to take part. The Bush Theatre will give them a budget of £5,000 to spend on this intervention and will provide in-kind technical resources.

The selected creatives will receive a £7,500 bursary together with travel/ maintenance relocation expenses and research costs (total bursary available to each recipient will be £10,000)
