Brighton-based independent publisher Myriad Editions is offering a paid internship for a Publicity and Marketing Assistant
The internship is for 3 days a week for a period of 3 to 6 months (TBC), and will begin on 12th January 2015.
Reporting to the Marketing Manager, you will assist with publicity and promotion work, as well as general office tasks. Duties will include copywriting, managing Myriad's social networking channels, updating the website, submitting books for prizes, coordinating author events, minuting meetings, managing the contacts database and sending out review copies. The job will also entail setting up appointments for the London Book Fair and other industry events, some of which you will have the opportunity to attend, as well as helping to administer and promote the First Drafts competition and its prize-giving event.
Essential skills: You will hold a university degree and be self-sufficient, motivated and able to demonstrate meticulous attention to detail. You will have an interest in event organisation and promotion as well as publishing, and be confident contributing to meetings, using social media (Twitter and Facebook especially), and emailing / phoning a range of contacts. Some interest in / knowledge of fiction and graphic books is desirable. You should be fluent, articulate and accurate in spoken and written English. You will have some basic design skills and be happy to learn others using InDesign and Photoshop, as well as Microsoft Excel.
