The Reader Organisation is a charitable social enterprise working to connect people with great literature through shared reading
At Calderstones, TRO is developing an international flagship project, a world-renowned, sustainable home for the organisation where we can showcase our whole person, whole population approach to shared reading.
Calderstones will become the permanent home for the organisation and a sustainable financial model will ensure we can extend the reach, impact and influence of the organisation. You will develop and support a series of commercial enterprises that will:
- Compliment TRO core activity and work in harmony with our ethos and values
- Earn income to support Calderstones running costs
- Provide high quality volunteering roles for our beneficiaries
We are looking for an entrepreneurial individual. For The Reader Organisation and the Calderstones Project it is a combination of responsibility and behaviours:
-
You need to have ambition – You need to spot opportunities to develop enterprises which can make money. You need to deeply care about the project.
-
Somebody who can start things from scratch – once you have spotted enterprising opportunities, you need to get your hands dirty and make the enterprise happen often with little financial resource
-
You need to be able to sell – get yourself out and about across Liverpool and find routes to market for the enterprises that have been developed.
-
Build and Manage Internal Relationships – It is going to take 3-5 years before we have got it the project spot on – it is a very fluid environment, one week to the next isn’t the same – you need to be able to thrive in that and find a way to structure it.
