Manchester Metropolitan University is pleased to announce the opening of the third annual Novella Awards
In partnership with Liverpool John Moore’s University, Sandstone Press, Time to read and NAWE the novella award is open to any writer of novellas in the English language and aged over 16. This year’s competition will be judged by Lucy English author of Selfish People and Children of Light and will be open for submissions on the 1st of February 2016 and closes 29th April. This year’s prize includes £1000 and publication by Sandstone Press.
The Novella is an important literary form and its popularity is on the rise. “the novella is the perfect form for this decade of our reading history” with an emphasis on speed and constant multitasking in our lives the novella is the perfect allowing a brief pause in an otherwise hectic schedule.
Last year’s winner Nina Allen author of The Harlequin received high praise a review The Independent described it as “beautifully written”. She has recently been listed on the Barnes & Noble “42 Sci-Fi/ fantasy books we can’t wait to read in 2016” for her new novel The Race.
