The Production Exchange
Deadline: Thu 31 Mar 2016
The Production Exchange are now accepting submissions of new plays from early-career writers for consideration for our Festival of New Writing, to be held in London this autumn

Early-career DOES NOT mean young and we will accept submissions from writers of ALL ages, in the early stages of their writing career (this therefore includes career-changers etc).

We want to discover plays that provoke us, that examine our world and the communities in which we live, that tell stories which shock, move and excite us. Stories that people will fight to see.

During the festival, we will showcase five brand new plays over five consecutive nights as script in hand performances at a London venue. We hope that for at least one of these plays, the reading will be the first step in its development which will conclude in a full production at a major London or regional venue, supported and produced by The Production Exchange.

The producers, directors and writers involved will all be early-career practitioners, who will be mentored by The Production Exchange’s team and industry professionals.

We invite submissions which adhere to one or more of the following criteria:

Plays which

• Are about now
• Tell a story/stories about forgotten heroes
• Are based on true events
• Cast light on humanity/communities
• Propose new ways to experience theatre
• Make us laugh

We ask that the plays target one or more of the following audiences:

• Families
• Drama/Thriller audiences
• Populist plays
• New attenders
• Existing attenders
• Young adults
• Comedy audiences

The deadline for submissions is 31st March 2016.

Please note that we can only accept submissions of full-length plays with an interval and will be unable to accept one-act plays.

Please contact emily@theproductionexchange.com if you have any questions or to submit your play. All plays can be submitted digitally either in Word or PDF format and sent to the above email address.
