The gorgeous neo-classical Guildhall standing sentinel over the heart of the city’s civic square – will become the canvas for an original, epic tale of modern Portsmouth

During the weekend of 25 October 2013, an iconic Portsmouth landmark – the gorgeous neo-classical Guildhall standing sentinel over the heart of the city’s civic square – will become the canvas for an original, epic tale of modern Portsmouth. The work, called You & Me & Everyone in Portsmouth, will be crowd-sourced from the city itself.

You & Me & Everyone in Portsmouth is supported by Arts Council England and Portsmouth City Council and will be produced and directed by The ReAuthoring Project. We are looking for a select group of writers to help us create You & Me & Everyone in Portsmouth. This is an opportunity to:

  • Co-create a unique work of high-profile literary art that will be experienced by thousands of people
  • Work in an innovative way with other writers and artists
  • Develop your knowledge and skill in delivering writing and your authorial ‘brand’ to wider, and new, audiences

Participating writers must be based in greater Portsmouth and must have published their writing in some form. The writers selected will demonstrate that:

  • They’re quality writers
  • They can work collaboratively
  • They are willing to push the boundaries of what literature and literary engagement might entail
  • They are available on relevant project dates TBC but mainly in July and August

We will short-list up to 20 writers from initial applicants. Four writers will be selected for the project. Each will be offered a £1,000 bursary.

All short-listed writers must attend a ReAuthoring workshop in Portsmouth on Friday 21 June, beginning at 5:30 p.m. for a 6:00 p.m. start and lasting until 8:00 p.m. This will be an active, cross-arts workshop demonstrating how the ReAuthoring process works, and what participants might expect as part of the larger project.

To apply, please go to http://tinyurl.com/pq74hmr and download the short application form. Submit this via e-mail to hello@reauthoring.co.uk no later than 5:00 p.m. on Monday 10 June.
