We're looking for someone who shares our vision of inspiring and supporting young people’s creativity and writing. You will have the skills, time and passion to be an important part of this pioneering organisation and help it to respond to a local and national educational context. You will work with an experienced Board, highly-motivated staff and a substantial volunteer body on which the Ministry’s unique model is based.

The Ministry of Stories is a creative writing and mentoring centre in east London. We use storytelling to inspire young people aged 8-18 in the belief that writing unleashes their imaginations and builds confidence, self-respect and communication. We want to create a nation of storytellers in which more young people are inspired to write and supported to write well. Inspiring and supporting young people to write well is a mission that can only be achieved by embedding our work in their local environment and community. We understand that the community is diverse and cannot be defined as one cohesive group with shared interests or attitudes.

Commitment: There are 4-6 board meetings a year plus Board and staff away days. Trustees will also have regular contact with the key staff and represent the Ministry at various events and meetings. It is estimated that a minimum time commitment of 1- 2 days a month. This is a voluntary position and there is no remuneration, although reasonable travel expenses may be claimed.
