Writing East Midlands Mentoring Scheme
Deadline: Fri 31 Jul 2015
A well-matched mentoring relationship can give momentum to writers, helping to develop their craft and their awareness of the market they wish to enter
Spending time working with a professional author on your writing can be invaluable. Just over five years ago we launched the WEM mentoring scheme to give new and emerging writers such opportunities. Our very first mentee was Jamie Mollart whose debut novel The Zoo was an Amazon Rising Star 2015, and our most recent mentee successes are Rod Maddock whose novel Babbicam is out now and Lisa Drakeford whose book The Baby will be launched on 3rd July at Waterstones Leicester, 6.30pm.
In fact it's a free resource through application. If you are based in the East Midlands and have a book or collection that you'd like help with, you can apply to the mentoring scheme. Even if you've applied before, you can reapply if you've not already received WEM mentoring support. The scheme is open to published or unpublished writers of prose, poetry, creative non-fiction (including life-writing) and scripts for radio, stage and screen.
