Cuckoo Quarterly, Cuckoo is returning with a brand new look, a brand new focus and even a brand new name: Cuckoo Chronicle
Cuckoo Chronicle will still showcase the best new poetry, short prose, flash fiction and creative non-fiction (so anything that’s not a review) by young writers, but the focus will now be more on supporting and being a first publication opportunity for emerging writers aged 15-21. Cuckoo Chronicle will be published twice a year, in April and November, and will also have a £50 Cuckoo Prize for the best submission.
In advance of Cuckoo Chronicle opening for submissions in September, we’re recruiting a brand new Editorial Committee of young people, who will read all of the submissions and make the decisions about what goes into the magazine. They are responsible for editing and help inform design decisions and the direction of the magazine. It’s brilliant experience for anyone interested in a career in publishing, editing or journalism, and a chance to get some hands-on experience.
So if you’re aged 15-21 and are interested in getting involved, email laura@newwwritingnorth.com. The committee meets at the New Writing North offices in central Newcastle
