RoundTable is a biannual peer-reviewed journal which promotes original and imaginative work by postgraduates and early career researchers within the fields of Creative Writing, Children's Literature, and English Literature. Edited by University of Roehampton's PhD researchers Denise Saul, Sinéad Moriarty, and Anne Malewski, RoundTable aims to move beyond national and subject-area boundaries, to foster international dialogue within the postgraduate and early career researcher community.

As an open access journal RoundTable will be available to readers all over the world. The international scope of the journal is reflected in the first issue which features contributions by authors from the UK, the US, and Canada. The issue opens with an interview with David Rudd, who has recently retired from his role as Professor of Children’s Literature and Director of the National Centre for Research in Children’s Literature at the University of Roehampton, and maintains his role as Emeritus Professor of Children's Literature at the University of Bolton.

In his first interview since retirement, Rudd offers an intriguing insight into his own ‘academic journey,’ as well as reflections on the wider field of Children’s Literature and developments within Higher Education.Focusing on the theme of ‘Journey’, the first issue of RoundTable explores a range of areas including the impact of modern technology on the developmental journeys of adolescents within YA fiction; narratives that subvert the conventional ‘heroic’ journey to celebrate ‘sheroes’; creative journeys into nursery noir and the imaginary forests of W. S. Graham and Bryan Wynter.

The journal's launch is 25th May , 3-5pm at University of Roehampton. No booking is required for the journal's launch which takes place at University of Roehampton. Our contact email address is: roeroundtable@gmail.com
