Supporting Teachers at Post-16 Level
Wed 26 Feb 2014
We're pleased to be promoting the course offered by the University of Leicester in June 2014, and invite other universities to contact us if they are interested in providing similar support.
NAWE will be liaising with AQA in order to help those universities keen to establish links with local schools and colleges offering the Creative Writing A Level. Please contact Paul Munden if you are interested in this.

The course in Leicester is scheduled for 12-13 June, 2014. It is suitable for teachers of the new Creative Writing A-level, or who are preparing to teach it, also any teachers interested in offering Creative Writing as an enrichment activity at Post-16 level.

The course will help teachers to develop their own writing craft, reflect on their practice, and tackle pedagogical challenges presented by teaching creative writing. There will be workshops, seminars, individual tutorials, and talks by authors about their experience of translating good writing practice into great teaching practice.

Following the course, the Centre for New Writing will establish and host a network and resource bank for continuing support throughout the teaching year.

Course tutors are experienced creative practitioners, former Heads of English and exam board representatives. The acclaimed poet Daljit Nagra will give a reading and answer questions at the evening dinner.

Organisers: Centre for New Writing, School of English, University of Leicester, Leicester LE1 7RH
