I have an M.A. in Creative Writing from the University of Manchester (2011). I have previously worked in publishing (Jonathan Cape, William Heinemann) and as a literary agent (Peters, Fraser & Dunlop) before giving it up to raise a family. I have a novel for adults completed in first draft and am currently also working on some middle grade fiction for 8 - 12 year olds.
In the past I have studied at the City Literary Institute in London with Alison Fell, and taken two residential Arvon Foundation Courses - poetry with Roger McGough and the late Brian Patten, and a prose course with R M Lamming and Andrew Harvey. I also studied for one semester in 2012 on the University of Salford's Creative Writing M.A., which I won as a prize.
I continue to write short stories and occasional poems alongside longer fiction.
I can offer workshops - either individual or a series - for any age group.
I have had short stories published in London Magazine, and the following anthologies: Lost & Found (Short Stories from the Cheshire Prize for Literature 2012) edited by Emma Rees; Write North West (winning entry) edited by Alan Corkish, Erbacce Press 2013.
I ran a creative writing lunch club at Egerton Primary School, Knutsford, for Years 3 - 6 (KS2) for two years from 2008-10.
In September 2009 I ran a one-semester Memoir Writing Course in Knutsford with 18 participants which proved very popular. I may yet respond to requests to run it again. If so, we would aim to self-publish some of our work.
In April / May 2014 I ran a series of three creative writing workshops for a Year 4 class at The Grange Junior School, Hartford, as part of my MMU CPD course, 'Enabling New Writing' on which I am enrolled. I completed the MMU course, 'Teaching Creative Writing' in 2013.
