A Caso dos Poetas
Thu 27 Apr 2017 to Wed 3 May 2017
A week-long series of poetry workshops, tutorials, readings and discussions set in Silves, the ancient Moorish capital of the Algarve with J. Brookes, Andrea Holland, Gaia Holmes, Peter Pegnall, Manuel Neto dos Santos and guests

Applications are welcomed from experienced and pioneering poets. Please submit three poems for consideration; these are to help us establish an enriching mixture of people. There will be a maximum of fifteen poets travelling from outside Portugal, who will be offered individual attention and engagement within a small group. Scrutiny of existing work will go alongside writing exercises which reflect the beauty and mysteries of this region and the final night will de a chance for the participants to take centre stage. Food, drink and natural splendour are vital constituents of our creative revels. A Casa dos Poetas is not a cultural export, it is a true collaboration.

Workshops will be a threefold venture; close attention to poems already drafted, writing exercises that focus on the place, both in the past and the present and a chance to attempt translations or versions from at least one other European language. Tutorials will be allocated and fashioned according to individual requirements.

Fees: £250. To include all tutorials, events, a welcoming and departing dinner and transport from Faro airport.

We can assist with finding accommodation, at very reasonable prices. The hotel Colina dos Mouros will charge about £30. A night if you are a participant or a friend or partner. It has a lovely pool and magnificent views over the city. There are other cheaper options with which we can assist.

Flights to and from Faro should be about £120. At the most, but they do increase as time passes and have to be your responsibility. We will arrange and pay for transport from the airport to Silves and back again. An approximate total for the week would then be below £700.

Initial applications should be made before 20th February, but enquiries can be made via peterpegnall @hotmail.com or by phone or text on 07471901649. Please call for a conversation about the details or the overall ethos. The postal address is 1, Martincross, 5, The Boulevard, Sheringham, NR26 8LJ. Submissions welcomed on paper or on line.

Secisions about acceptance will be made before 1st March, when a deposit of £50. will be required to secure a place.
