Why Jacqueline Wilson wants to inspire young writers to put pen to paper
The Hetty Feather author, who will be at the Cardiff Children's Literature Festival, says all children should learn the art of creative writing

“I think the important thing is just to enjoy the creative writing. Sit down and let the words flow. Maybe start by keeping diary as this is a great way to put pen to paper and then slowly you may find that more and more ideas will come.

"I always wrote as a child – and I think reading, whether it’s a book, on a Kindle or an iPad is crucial too – but I never thought I would go on to publish more than 100 books!

“If any young child wants to write I would give them every encouragement and suggest they read as much as possible, keep a daily diary to get into a regular writing habit, and to have fun writing their stories.”
