Colm Tóibín Fellow In Creative Writing
Deadline: Fri 1 Sep 2017
Named in honour of the University of Liverpool's Chancellor, the award-winning writer Colm Tóibín, the Department of English seeks to appoint a writer of prose fiction

The Colm Tóibín Fellow will make a significant contribution to the interdisciplinary context for Creative Writing, both within the department, but also extending more widely across the University and its Centre for New and International Writing. A record of nationally and internationally significant creative writing (prose) outputs and a background of relevant teaching experience is essential.

Primarily you will be responsible for 3 hours of teaching per week on undergraduate creative writing modules and to provide monthly writing workshops for Creative Writing PhD students. You will also be expected to make a significant contribution to the running and promotion of new and existing Creative Writing public events and engagement activities (e.g. Kenneth Allott Lecture, Miriam Allott Series, Citizens of Everywhere project).

You will work closely with other members of the team to foster external collaborations, and to develop grant applications (for example ACE/AHRC/Leverhulme and the University of Liverpool’s Knowledge Exchange scheme) to secure funding for future Creative Writing events. Activities additional to teaching will make a substantial contribution to the profile of Creative Writing and English internationally as well as nationally.
