We want a programme that is both co-curated with local communities and international in scale and ambition. Developing practical programme relationships with European artists and partners will be key to the role. The programme will also seek to address some of the challenges in the city – improving connectivity, building greater social cohesion across the city, engaging new audiences and tackling inequality.

Our bid will be rooted in the city and one of our ambitions is to grow the capacity and experience of a new generation of programmers, festival directors and event producers. Whilst our focus is Leeds we will work with partners from across Yorkshire.

We are seeking to appoint a programme coordinator to deliver an exceptional bid programme working with the cultural sector of Leeds and our advisory groups.

This contract will start early in the New Year and run for 12 months with the potential for a 6 month extension, subject to the city being shortlisted.

We will consider a part time appointment, freelance contract, secondments or a team approach to the role from one or more freelancers/ cultural agencies. We are open to different models of delivery. In all cases we will require applicants to state how they will help to build cultural capacity in the city.

The appointee will have administrative support from the Leeds 2023 bid team in facilitating workshops, managing the call out for ideas and developing the database.

The role will report to the Bid Executive group chaired by Cluny Macpherson (Chief Officer Culture and Sport at Leeds City Council) with support from an Artistic Programme Advisory Group chaired by James Brining (Artistic Director of West Yorkshire Playhouse).
