The project

The Culture Bridge CIC (TCB) is an educational management social enterprise company based in Cambridge, UK. It is approved and regulated by the UK’s community interest company regulator. We are seeking experienced teachers / educators to write lesson plans for English speaking teachers who will be delivering courses leading to English Speaking Board ‘speech’ qualifications in China.

Our courses in China are built upon the foundations of CARE, being: Customised, Adaptable, Relevant, and Engaging. Customised to the Chinese market; Adaptable in different learning environment; Relevant to Chinese learners; and Engaging courses.

Where we are

The introduction of the courses is to be staged over two years, but ultimately the full suite will be available and suitable for students aged 3 years old progressing through to 18. Stage one will be take place between August and October 2017 for four syllabi. Each syllabus requires 60 to 100 teaching hours depending upon the level.

Our built-in learning environment on our website www.esbinchina.org is where

  • teachers and students can access an electronic version of learning resources
  • students can share with their teacher, and selected others, videos of their presentations / performances for formative assessment purposes and as a record of their progress
  • teachers can issue certificates or awards based on the students’ progress
  • a built-in message system between teachers and students can help managing performances

An integral component of the resource package is a software programme which we have already identified and which will be used as scaffold upon which students can build their presentations / group speaking / poetry recitals. The software will include a word-bank to ensure that the vocabulary requirements of English language learners are also met.

What we are looking for

The lesson plans will be designed to be used integrally with this software, as a component part of our web-based teaching and learning resource package, to include teacher guidance and student worksheets and other related material downloadable upon demand.

For more information please indicate the levels / age range you are most experienced in working with.

You will be provided more detailed information, including the number of direct teacher contact hours per course, aims of courses and learning outcomes to be assessed, and an outline of the way the software may be integrated with the lesson plans.

You will be asked to formulate one full exemplar lesson plan for a one hour lesson with teaching guidance, including any student worksheets and how the teaching and learning software is to be incorporated, as well as a more general outline of the overall plan for the specific course.

Successful applicants will be provided with full training in the use of the software prior to officially commencing their commission.
