Thrrough WriteNow, Penguin Random House want to find, mentor and publish new writers from communities under-represented on the nation’s bookshelves

As publishers, we connect your story with readers everywhere.

We want books to reflect everyone in our society, and to publish the stories which aren’t often told.

That’s why through WriteNow we want to find, mentor and publish new writers from communities under-represented on the nation’s bookshelves. This includes writers from BAME (Black, Asian, Minority Ethnic) or LGBTQ (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans, Queer) communities, writers who have a disability, or come from a socio-economically marginalised background.

What’s on offer?

We will invite 150 writers to one of three insight days in London (Saturday 9 September), Bristol (Saturday 16 September) and Newcastle (Saturday 23 September).

During the day you'll hear everything you need to know about getting published from authors, literary agents and Penguin Random House experts - as well as getting one-to-one feedback on your book from one of our editors.

After getting to know you and your work, we'll ask 10 exceptional writers to join our year-long mentoring programme.  While there are no guarantees, ultimately we would love to publish these 10 writers.

And who are we?

We are Penguin Random House, the UK's number one publisher. We connect the world with the stories, ideas and writing that matter.

We publish the very best books across all genres, including award-winning commercial and literary fiction, non-fiction, children’s books and classics. Our authors range from Dorothy Koomson to Philip Pullman, Arundhati Roy to James Patterson, Roald Dahl to Zadie Smith.

WriteNow is delivered in partnership with writer development charities Spread the WordNew Writing North and Literature Works.
