Hampshire Writers’ Society: James McConnachie – Writing to Order
Tue 12 Feb 2013 to Tue 12 Feb 2013
The travel writer and journalist James McConnachie is the speaker at the February meeting of the Hampshire Writers’ Society
The travel writer and journalist James McConnachie is the speaker at the February meeting of the Hampshire Writers’ Society, on Tuesday, February 12th, at 7.30 p.m., in the Lecture Room, Stripe Theatre, University of Winchester.

James is best known for his forms of writing that are at once exotic and erotic, as in The Book of Love: In Search of the Kamasutra (2007), as well as (in a slightly different register) The Rough Guide to Sex (2010). Nominated as the Sunday Times Young Writer of the Year in 2008, as well as being a part-time Lecturer in Writing at the University of Southampton, he will talk in his inimitable fashion about writing to order and when to ‘strain against the leash’. All are welcome to attend. Admission: £5 per head, though there is free admission for members of the Hampshire Writers’ Society and for students. (Membership of the Hampshire Writers’ Society (February-June): £15, free for students – see the website below for further details.)
