The National Association for Literature Development (NALD)

NALD is a membership organization run by a part-time co-ordinator. It uses a community development based approach, and training is central to its work. Membership is open to individuals and organizations whose professional activity facilitates the appreciation, understanding and practice of creative writing and reading.

Academi

The Academi is the Welsh National Literature Promotion Agency and Society for Authors, running events, competitions (including the Cardiff International Poetry Competition), conferences, international exchanges, events for schools, lectures and festivals. Academi is also responsible for the National Poet of Wales project and the Encyclopaedia of Wales.

Apples and Snakes

Apples & Snakes was set up in 1982 as a platform for poetry which would be popular, relevant, cross-cultural and accessible to the widest range of people. They present fortnightly shows at Battersea Arts Centre and tours and programmes nationally. They also operate a very successful poetry in education scheme.

Survivors' Poetry

AWP logo
The Association of Writers and Writing Programs is based in the USA and runs a large conference each year, at which NAWE is often represented. The next conference is in Denver Colorado, 7-10 April 2010.
