Writing & CommunityBeyond the formal educational contexts of school and university, NAWE writers are involved with writing projects in many other settings within the community. These include working with youth groups and adult education, in healthcare and prisons.
WRITERS' GROUPS
| NAWE has published a number of articles on the role of the writers' group (John Alcock) and the particular value of women's groups (Rose Flint, Debjani Chatterjee) and black writers' groups (Nicole Moore). These are accessible in the Archive within the Members' Area. If you are interested in finding a writers' group within your region, the National Association of Writers Groups is a good place to start.

MOVING STORIES
| Moving Stories was a partnership project between NAWE and the National Railway Museum, collecting stories about railways and rail travel from people of different backgrounds and communities all around the world. Without Moving Stories, these tales would probably never have been told. Some of them are from people who have worked on the railways, and these are amongst the most unusual.
The archive site of the 200 best stories submitted has now been closed.

COMMUNITY ARTISTS
| NAWE works closely with other key organizations in the field of community arts, including Sound Sense, and the Foundation for Community Dance . Together, we form the Community Arts partnership within the 'CreativePeople' network of over 100 organizations, providing information, advice and guidance to practitioners - that's artists and also those who employ or manage them - to help them get better at what they do.
